Do you love the idea of wine tours and tastings?

For those who love their wine the choices are endless.

Close to Montisi, on the way to Trequanda is Fattoria Le Colle, a lovely winery owned by Donatella Cinelli Columbini.  Here you can taste both Chianti and Val d’Orcia wines in beautiful surroundings.

This master wine maker also has a very interesting Brunello vineyard, you will have to pay a visit to this women only run operation and find out about the secret of the dragon.

Just beyond Trequanda is another interesting vineyard where you can taste and buy some of our local wines.

The Val d’Orcia consortium has been taking new initiatives to promote wines from this region, awarded DOC status in 2000. You can find more details and maps here.

We are privileged to be part of the Comune of Montalcino, home to one of Italy’s most famous wines, the Brunello. Visit one of the many Brunello wineries close to Montisi and gain an appreciation of this wonderful wine. Made wholly with Sangiovese grapes its production is strictly controlled and monitored. Wines are matured in both oak barrels and in the bottle and are only released for sale 5 years after the harvest.

See here for a map of Brunello wineries – select a few and have the wine tour of a lifetime or click here for further information.

Montisi is also tantalisingly close to some more of the best wines in Italy

Before you visit be aware that some wineries just offer local produce for sale, some offer snacks, tours and tastings and some even have a restaurant on site. It is customary to book tours and it is usual to charge for tastings. Shipping can also be organised by the bigger producers.
