Shops, sports and more…..close to Montisi
When you are staying somewhere unfamiliar, sometimes you need a checklist of places to go where you can continue your hobbies, run some errands, do a bit of shopping or get a few everyday things fixed. It can’t all be art, music, food, wine and ice cream!
We have listed here with telephone numbers and web links some places you may need to know about and some places we have been asked about. If there is anything you think we should add to the list which would be helpful to our visitors, do let us know.
First, take a look at ‘Where to shop‘ in Montisi. You can get most things you need in the village – but you might have to go further afield for others. Not everyone will speak English but most people know a few words and will always try to help. Take your phrase book or your language app with you !
Hairdresser and Barber
If you need a haircut or colour try Sandra, a L’Oreal approved unisex hairdresser in Sinalunga, tel +39 0577 678671 or give Lisa a call in Petroio +39 0577 665070. If you prefer a traditional male barber and would like a shave too call Moreno on +39 0577 803125. He is based in a tiny shop in San Giovanni d’Asso and booking is essential.
Manicure and pedicure
Pedicure or manicure is the same word in Italian so this might help you if you need a beauty appointment. Call Centro Estetico Venere in Sinalunga on +39 0577 678820 for this and other treatments. Usefully it’s right next door to Sandra’s mentioned above.
Sports and fitness
For sports and fitness, there is a gym called The Best Body, in Sinalunga which will offer a day membership. There is also a local tennis club for more serious players.
For people who like to swim there is a public pool in Trequanda which offers day membership.
Locally you can always play tennis on the court in Montisi, kick a football around on the playing fields or maybe go for a run on some of the white roads in our area.
Supermarkets
Sinalunga can meet most of your day to day needs outside of Montisi itself. It boasts several supermarkets, the largest is probably the COOP in the I Gelsi shopping centre, Via Pier Paolo Pasolini. in the same small shopping centre there is also a shoe repairer, optician and tobacconist.
Markets
There are many wonderful food markets in the area. Have a look at where and when they are here.
Outlets
At Bettolle you can pick up a bargain at the Valdichiana outlet village. They are open daily and if you clink on the link you can see the myriad of shops you can visit and some of the incredible discounts available.
Taxi
If you need a taxi for that special occasion then call Gianmarco at 3rd Service on +39 338 1868798. He can organise days out and supply large vehicles too if you are part of a group.
Celebration Cakes
Many people who come and stay in Montisi are celebrating something! You can buy amazing celebration cakes or order something very special at Pasticceria Marcucci in Sinalunga Tel: +39 0577 632124. While you’re there don’t forget to have a coffee!
